A little bit about me!
Hello, My name is Dee Mellon, I am a mother, sister, daughter, partner and holistic therapist and tutor. My passion is providing a safe, nurturing, healing space to carry out holistic treatments.
In 2006 I began as a receptionist in a busy Holistic Centre, Walmer College part time as I had young children at the time. I really enjoyed watching how holistic therapies helped people dealing with lots of health, physical and emotional issues, I watched clients come in stressed and leave floating on air. The owner of the centre thought I would make a great therapist and I began my training. I wanted to help people feel good about themselves mind, body and soul so I studied I.T.E.C Holistic Massage and Anatomy and Physiology.
My passion was ignited and my journey of learning began, over 12years later it still continues.
I went onto study Aromatherapy, Indian Head Massage, Pregnancy Massage, Onsite, Advanced Techniques and Ear Candling. I began working as a therapist in the centre, building up a regular clientele, keeping my reception job as well. I loved being front of house and having the chats with every client coming in.
In 2009 I was honoured to be asked by the owner of the centre if I would consider training as a Tutor and teach I.T.E.C Holistic Massage as she said I was a natural and I jumped at the chance.
After 2 years of assisting and completing in house training, I finally took my own class through their exams very successfully in 2011, 2012 and 2013. I continued to study, adding Hot Stone Massage, Reflexology, Skin and eye treatments to my qualifications. I love learning new and innovative techniques to help my clients. In 2013 there was a change in ownership of Walmer and I decided it was time for a change, a fellow colleague asked me to join her in her new business River Holistic Centre and I am still working there.
I continued with my love of learning about how the body works and all aspects of holistic health, I studied Pregnancy Reflexology, Fertility Reflexology and Foot Reading. Not bad for a girl who didn’t like feet! I also studied Reiki 1 and 2 and Seichem healing as clients were constantly asking me was I doing Reiki on them so I thought I should know what it was all about. It has opened me up to a totally new way of healing and adds so much to every holistic treatment I give.
When I turned 40 in 2014 my interest in aging well naturally really began. I studied the Ayurvedic Natural Facelift Massage/Facial Rejuvenation and was blown away by the effects on the face. This interest or obsession maybe, continues to this day. I studied Ayurvedic Integrated facelift Massage, Kansa Wand Facial and Facial Reflexology, completing training in London in the innovative Zone Facelift this year and I keep up to date with all skin trends. Look good, feel good all naturally!
For the last 6 years I have been teaching workshops in various aspects of holistic health for example Self Facial Massage and Facial exercise, before it was trendy and also Refresher Massage. I am working on some new exciting ideas for workshops and I keep up to date with any new trends in the holistic field I am always wondering what works best, how can I help clients with pain, stress, illness, anxiety, insomnia and aging to name but a few. I believe you never stop learning!
I have also worked for the HSE providing holistic treatments for recovery and family support and continue to be involved in their retreats.
I love my job, providing a safe, confidential and nurturing space for my clients to heal and feel blessed to be working at what I genuinely love.
